Great job, but come on California, we can do better next year.  The *25th Annual Coastal Clean Up Day for 2009* will be held on September 19th.

OK.  Now for the confession.   Paulano missed the cleanup on Saturday. But that did not stop him and his family from going out on Sunday tidying up a bit.  Our chosen shoreline was at Del Valle Regional Park, just south of Livermore, California. Armed with nothing more than four pairs of gloves, we filled 3 big bags full of garbage.  We didn’t weigh them, but 70 pounds seems like a pretty good guess.   Our most interesting items were a sleeping bag,  and a surprising number of tiny glass bait jars.
